The Weekender: Cocktails & Pancakes

When Josh and I moved into our new flat together, we would never have thought there would be somewhere nearby where both our food and drinks needs were fully met in every way. And then we found a little place called Slice and lived happily ever after. Slice is a cute little cafe, so small that you would completely pass by it even if you were looking for it. By day it's home to some of the best looking breakfasts and (most giant) sandwiches I've ever seen, and by night? Well, that's where things get interesting.

On the first Friday of every month they team up with a little ice cream place called Boho Gelato (if you're an avid reader of H.O you'll remember my visit to them back in September) and create little glasses of heaven. Hells yes - ice cream cocktails - strong ice cream cocktails. Each month they pick a different theme, this months being day of the dead, so my drink of choice was the Dia de Muetos. Ingredients included: chocolate, avocado, honey and cinnamon sorbet with absinthe, kahula & brandy. Sounds scary, but they always taste brilliant. Josh opted for a frozen margarita which is pretty self explanatory.

On Saturday morning I returned with Megan in tow in search of breakfast. It might have been 12pm but for the sake of the tiny bowl of cereal I ate at 7:30am with a fork - we'll call it breakfast. I went for the pancakes and megan opted for a sausage and bacon sandwich (yes, I did totally have order-ers regret on that one). The pancakes were nice, but not so filling, so my hunt for the perfect local pancake is still going strong (open to suggestions Brighton locals)!
