It can be difficult to decide on what makeup to wear on the day of a Christmas party. You don't want to look too overdone at work, or to look out of place come 7pm. After both of the afore mentioned situations happened last year I made a plan of action that covers me, day to night.
Day Face: Giorgio Armarni Luminous Silk Foundation / Origins Plantscription Concealer / Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Liner / L'Oreal Teloscopic False Lash Waterproof / Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm / Primers - Clinique Super Primer all over and Bourjois Happy Light Primer on the high points of my face - excessive? Maybe.
Evening Face: As above, but with the following extras - Guerlain Teracotta Bronzing Powder / Rimmel Apocalips in Across The Universe / Benefit Porefessional Agent Zero Shine / Bobbi Brown Brow Kit / YSL Touche Eclat Concealer / Natural Collection white liner pencil
You can switch up the products for whatever Christmas Look you like - Check my Instagram later and see if you can spot this look in shameless selfie form, but the basic rules I stick to are:
- A long lasting, SPF free base - The G.A luminous silk is my current go-to, but sometimes I chance the YSL Touche Eclat as it's meant to have a slightly more sophisticated SPF.
- A curl holding, waterproof mascara. Check L'Oreal and Maxfactor for this category as they bloomin' rule.
- A brightening concealer in your makeup bag for refreshing tired skin at the end of a long day
It's worth mentioning I always make sure I do the most time consuming part of my makeup at the start of the day (think liner, mascara and foundation) as I have most time. This avoids making mistakes in front of everyone in the office (as the resident beauty girl, wouldn't that be embarrassing?) and it also means I get to leave the main bulk of my makeup mess at home. The quick and easy products like bronzer, blush and lipstick can be left until later - keeping my makeup work appropriate even though my eyes and base may be slightly heavier than normal.
Makeup, sorted. As for hair and outfit, not so much. Cue floordrobe and hair product overload.
