The Sunday Post: An Afternoon With Pandora

$

It seems like I spend my life backwards and forwards from meetings these days, some are serious and require a good nights sleep and a business brain, and others really do manage to knock my socks off - so much so I can barely call it work!

I have some work with Pandora coming up so they kindly invited me to their townhouse to have a look around the showroom and get a feel for the upcoming collection (more on that in the next few weeks). There were roses and peonies everywhere - even hanging from the ceiling - and it was so dreamy we couldn't quite bare to leave. It was a lovely end to a long day of meetings and I can't wait to share what we have in store for you!

This all feels a million miles away now as I sit on my bedroom floor, surrounded by piles of outfits and boarding flights for Barcelona. I'll be away this week, but everything should run as normal, make sure you keep an eye on my Instagram and Twitter for a few sun soaked updates!

May Beauty Favourites

I love favourites videos, despite the realisation that it's the end of another month and the fear I feel that my life is currently flashing before my eyes, it's actually quite cathartic.

Looking back over the things you've loved from the month and focusing on the highlights. It always makes me feel very positive about things (one of the reasons why I'll never be annoying at bloggers/vloggers/instagram-mers showing their highlights) and can around a truly terrible day by thinking about all the little things you love - whether it's a brilliant skincare product, a great smelling candle, or editing a vlog where you had a great lunch. I digress, but it is very therapeutic for me.

This month was definitely the month of great affordable skincare finds, something that I'm not sure has ever happened in the past four years - and who knows when it will happen again! I've also found some great base products and an eye shadow/mascara duo that will knock your socks off!

Let me know if you have any product recommendations for me to try based on these and here's to a brilliant new month!

WHAT I LOVED:

Body Shop Silky Camomile Cleansing Oil

Topshop Limited Edition Rose Gold Lipstick - Nevada*
Sephora Pro Airbrush Foundation Brush
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue*

The Complexion Rescue-er

You know me, I love a light weight base more than anyone. I find it easier to achieve a flawless base using fine layers as opposed to straight up heavy coverage bases. After hearing great things about the Complexion Rescue from Bare Minerals I decided to give it a try. It had a rather tough job considering I was completely obsessed with the Chanel CC Cream at the time (I'm sure that even if you don't watch my YouTube videos you can tell where this is going...) but I've been favouring the Complexion Rescue for a good month now which is pretty impressive!

THE DETAILS:

DRY SKIN FRIENDLY: With it's gel texture this one seems to smooth over the skin, locking in the moisture and providing long lasting hydration all day long.

LIGHT WEIGHT AND LUMINOUS: One of those - light weight but build-able situations, this is my perfect good/okay skin day base. It's so easy to blend that it makes up for the slightly strange shade situation where both shade 3 and shade 5 have very little difference once applied to the skin. Potentially one to watch out for if you are either end of the skin tone spectrum. It's hydrating properties are not only great for dry skin but leave a luminous sheen to the skin which only gives more glow throughout the day.

BEST WITH BRUSHES: Ignore what the instructions on the bottle tell you - brushes are best with this base, creating a flawless complexion that evens out skin tone and texture. For me this makes it less of an "on the go" type of base, so it's not my number one addition to my travel makeup bag.

NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY PLEASE: SPF 30+ makes the CR a great choice for daily wear over the summer months, but not the best for nights out.

It's definitely not a one stop base for every single occasion, but it's an excellent day base and my current number one for every day use. If you have dry/normal skin (or oily skin and you really like a glow!) then this is definitely one to grab a sample of asap!

Hola Barcelona!

The past twenty four hours have been crazy! I arrived in Barcelona yesterday morning after a super early start and a very rough and delayed flight (my car driver was waiting for so long he actually told me off). When I arrived at my hotel I took a few moments to gawk at the view from my room (it’s pretty high up here!) and finished off the day with two meetings with Clarins about the plans we have in store for the next three days!

Today is going to be pretty full on, but make sure you keep an eye on my Instagram (hellooctoberxo) and catch up on my Snapchat (hellooctober) if you want to see a lot of blue skies and backstage shooting (and in the case of snapchat, grumpy airport faces).

The Sunday Post: A Night At The W Hotel Barcelona

If you keep an eye on my Twitter or Instagram then you'll already know that this week I spent a night (well, actually three) in the W Hotel, Barcelona. I've been for lunch at The W in London a few times, and had a snoop around the bedrooms, but never actually stayed in one. As you can imagine when Clarins invited me to fly out and stay for four nights I was over the moon! I flew out early on Tuesday morning for four days of full on shooting, with the end result to be released in 2016. It was such an amazing experience and I almost didn't want to come home!

The hotel was stunning, and being on the 20th floor I had the most incredible view! I still have a lot of photos left to show - but instead of releasing them all at once I've split things in to three parts so I can talk about various bits day by day. There will also be a vlog up documenting the trip this week!

I took these photos on day one as soon as I'd checked in and after getting acquainted with my new home for the week I was whisked straight in to briefings for the next four days of shooting. I definitely didn't get to see as much of Barcelona as I would have liked so hopefully I'll be coming back soon! But The W Hotel was incredible and if you're on the hunt for a luxury stay abroad I would 100% recommend it.

I loved my time there, and can't wait to share it all with you, but at the same time I have this amazingly content feeling now I'm home. I feel really motivated and ready to get back to work! Let's hope this feeling sticks around...

After a rather large number of requests for my current makeup routine, the subtle purple smokey eye & fresh base has finally been documented on camera! In keeping with my usual routine it's fairly minimal, but with a slight hint of colour (shock horror) and is surprisingly speedy to apply!

Also shout out to my new Maggs London Makeup Bag which makes housing these products far prettier than ever before!

Barcelona in Instagrams

I still have a few more images from Barcelona to come, but couldn't resist putting together my favourite Instagrams from the trip. Between being on set and squeezing in some sneaky vlogging there wasn't really much time for photos, so Instagram filled the gaps perfectly as I always had my phone with me.

It looks like I spent a lot of time by the pool, but it's all down to the magic of Instagram. I spent my lunches rushing to the pool for the tiniest bit of sunshine, and made sure I was up early everyday to make the most of it!

I also filmed a little Get Ready With Me: Packing Video that went live earlier this week (see below) with a vlog of the trip coming up later this afternoon - keep your eyes peeled!

The Neutral Summer Drop I'm All Over Right Now...

Chanel Les Beiges Summer 2015 Collection
Long title right, but "A Summer of Les Beiges" doesn't really lend itself towards sounding overly exciting  - who want's a beige summer right? However, this collection was pretty much snatched out of my poor postmans hands before being ripped opened and photographed. It's that good.

As the collection name might have already indicated, this isn't a summer drop made for those who love the bright and pigmented, however for those of us who love a beach babe-esque, neutral look, or for anyone who has an onslaught of weddings over the next few months, this is perfect!

I'm going to quickly whizz past the packaging, as this is Chanel and we all know it's drop dead gorgeous on the outside, but the inside? I've listed my loves and likes below for you...

LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW MULTI COLOUR No.02 (L.E): A multi toned powder that creates a healthy post-holiday glow without the holiday. Could you have already guessed that this would fall into the "LOVE" category? It's super finely milled making it a breeze to blend and has SPF 15 too!

LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW SHEER COLOUR STICK No.20 A cream contour/bronzer in stick form - normally this would be on my love list one hundred percent, but with my current skin tone I just can't get the right pigmentation out of it. It's almost a cream to powder formula and is incredibly blend-able, to the point where it's unnoticeable on my skin. This will be amazing on lighter skin tones and come winter I'm sure I'll be cracking this out to add some extra warmth to my skin.

LES BEIGES LE VERNIS - PRECIOUS BEIGE & BEIGE PUR: Chanel, you are slowly winning me over with your nail polishes! The few I've tried recently have actually had decent wear time - no more chipping five minutes after application - Say WHAAAA?! It's still not the best but I feel there's been some kind of change recently, whether that's in the formula or just my own nails are less prone to chipping? Either way These are two lovely neutral shades that are perfect for more formal summer occasions - they're a little on the sheer side though, so a little more time is needed to get round to a third coat.

LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW HYDRATING LIP BALM (L.E) And last but most definitely not least - I think I've found my perfect nude! Sods law it's limited edition. The hydrating lip balm is a beautiful nude rosey pink. It sits in between the formula of a balm and the rouge coco lipsticks - pigmented but not too sheer and not too lustrous. If you want to see what it looks like on then keep your eyes peeled for this in an upcoming video!

It's available in stores from the 19th June, so keep an eye on your local counter and let me know if you pick anything up!

The Sunday Post: A Night At Shoreditch House

When I landed back on UK soil last week, I'd barely unpacked before re-packing my suitcase again for a few days in London. It's been a bit mental but I now have a few weeks before I need to repack and set off again!

This week Alix and I made our way to Shoreditch for an overnight stay at Shoreditch House, courtesy of St Tropez in celebration of their new In Shower Tan (more on that next week)! We checked in to our rooms (which were gorgeous, slightly beach themed - just make sure you have an east facing room as they're the brightest!) and did some work before going to the rooftop restaurant for drinks and dinner. Both were delicious and I couldn't help but break the healthy eating once I heard the pizzas on the menu were from Pizza East. It was amazing but the real gold start went to the breakfast menu. Small but healthy and delicious all mixed in to one.

We snaffled up our granola & berries and may have also had a plate of pancakes to share (#hungrytimes) before heading out to the pool to work on blog posts and emails. It's not my conventional work environment but it was surprisingly helpful as we sat brainstorming ideas for future videos and just being generally productive. This is a rarity for me so I'll definitely be heading back there for more work meetings over the summer!

We've suddenly hit that wonderful time of year where my UK wardrobe and holiday wardrobe seem to merge together. It's just warm enough to wear dresses and playsuits daily as long as a jacket is at hand - meaning my wardrobe is being worn to it's fullest potential (and bringing that cost-per-wear I bang on about right down)!

I've been completely obsessed with this playsuit from MISSGUIDED recently and have been trying to wear it at every possible occasion - not easy given its low back and front. It's perfect for casual poolside afternoons though and luckily there have been a fair few of those which has made me a very happy chappy indeed. The lace detailing is gorgeous and really unique - I've always been a bit on and off with Missguided but this might have made me change my mind!

For the added warmth and coverage I've loved throwing on my RIVER ISLAND faux suede jacket - it's the softest material and works really beautifully with the huge quantities of white in my wardrobe. It's also a lighter material than most other biker style jackets, meaning it falls in a far more flattering way. Plus its also a slight nod to the seventies trend (even though I'm already a little bit over it).

Then we have the new accessories that have recently made their way in to my life... For me right now in terms of the colour you've got to make it rose. There has not been a single day where I haven't been wearing the feather style ring from the PANDORA ROSE* collection. The whole collection is super pretty and feminine - providing something a little bit different from regular silver or gold metals whilst still remaining subtle and perfect for everyday wear. It's no secret I'm a fan of this style of jewellery already, it just beats the look of silver and gold and is totally wearable whether you're poolside in a white playsuit or dressed up for a night out.

WHAT I WORE:

SIDE NOTE: A massive thank you to ALIX for shooting these photos for me. She's a photography sorceress that one...

The One That Changed My Mind...

Flash back five or so years ago to my first encounter with Esteé Lauder's Bronze Goddess - I spritzed a little on myself and was fast on a mission to rub the scent off. Given the fact that two of the key notes are vanilla and coconut this didn't really make sense as I love any kind of vanilla scent. I felt this way every summer when so many people around me were going nuts for the stuff until this year - summer hit and I'm all over the scent. I can smell people wearing it a mile off and it got to the stage where I had a spendy moment in duty free and had to get a bottle of my own.

In terms of notes, it's a pretty busy scent in comparison to the other fragrances in my collection, but given the notes that now heavily dominate my current fragrance family, it's no wonder this scent caught my nose. I'm never very good at the descriptive side of scents, so I've whipped a little something off the Esteé Lauder website to help make things a little more accurate...

"Sensuous Notes:
Amber, Coconut Milk, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Vetiver, Myrrh

 Warm Notes:
Juicy Mandarin, Sicilian Bergamont, Lemon, Pulpy Orange

 Radiant Notes:
Tiare Flower, Jasmine, Magnolia Petals, Orange Flower Buds, Lavender"

Et voila! Are you a B.G lover? Whether the answer is yes or no I think we should also just take this final moment for packaging appriciation - ombre yellow to pink with a gold lid - definitely the best looking bottle yet!

Evening Pamper Routine

$

After a long day staring at a computer screen there's really nothing better than taking some time out and having a good old pamper in the evening. This month I've definitely been overdue one, so I thought I'd combine my evening pamper and midweek video to being you an Evening Pamper Routine Video!

Things always start by putting on the kettle, followed by some super speedy makeup removal and cleansing. I've been using the Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water* for the past few months now and like it so much it made it in to the May Favourites!

It's great at removing makeup quickly and effectively and because it's super gentle I find it's far better for my dehydrated skin and sometimes sensitive skin. Out of all of the triggers (air con, diet, stress etc.), dehydration is the biggest factor that can make my skin become sensitive, so whilst I'm taking my makeup off I always have a peppermint or green tea at hand (see why the first step is to flick the kettle on?)  to make sure I'm staying hydrated (and peppermint tea proper mellows me out so it's super relaxing) - but the triple purified water in the cleansing water also helps to keep my skin happy, hydrated and healthy looking!

Once I'm done removing my makeup I then follow it up with a balm cleanser and a mask to nourish and sooth the skin. After this I run myself a bath and then continue with my evening skincare routine before chilling out with a book or binge watching Netflix! Make sure you check out the video for full details on products and the things I'm currently reading and watching!

The Sunday Post: Dinner & Drinks At West Thirty Six

$

This week has been a crazy one, everything from super huge deadlines to life admin has been going down and I've barely had time to gather my thoughts! Earlier this week I did manage to block out some time in my diary to finally get down to West Thirty Six in aid of trying out their menu that has been so highly recommended to me by friends and family.

Tucked away in Notting Hill, this place is a little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of my usual food haunts. It's a great place to have lunch as it's quiet, but I think dinner and drinks is where this place really shines - the warm lighting inside and hanging lights on the rooftop make for a perfect cosy evening dinner setting.

I ordered a Ruhbarberry Cocktail which was super delicious and I will 100% return just to continue working my way through the cocktail menu, followed by the Rib Eye Burger and a side of broccoli (still trying to be healthier, okay?) and even snuck in a few bites of Alix's MacNCheese too. The burger was my favourite of them all and -bold statement here - I think it may have been the best burger I've ever had. However we did then follow it up with the best desert I've ever had so I can't decide which I loved more - the rib eye burger or the unknown plate of chocolatey goodness.

Summer Style Favourites with InTheFrow!

Summer is my favourite season to work with in terms of wardrobe, there are so many light layers and accessories you can play with that wouldn't see the light of day during the colder months. With that in mind I suggested to the lovely Victoria from InTheFrow that we work on a little Summer Style Favourites for my channel!

We also put together a Summer Look book (for the UK weather of course...) on Victoria's channel so make sure you check that one out too!

Things To Do This Week #5

Things to do this week - wrapping together my current favourite products, places and playsuits for you to add to this weeks to-do list.

WATCH IT: My SUMMER STYLE FAVOURITES video with Victoria from INTHEFROW went up on Sunday and I can't stop talking about it because I just LOVED putting it together. It's always nice to break things up by having a new face on your channel and this girl is just a genuine breath of fresh air.

SEE IT: I went and saw JURASSIC WORLD last weekend and would 100% recommend watching it! Even if you're not in to Dinosaurs, it has Chris Pratt who is the ultimate dream boat so everyones a winner here. Also - am I the only person who wasn't scared by this film? I feel like some people may be watching too many cat videos on the internet these days as this was in no way as terrifying as people are making out!

TAKE A BREAK: In case you missed it (unlikely because I don't stop talking about it), I went to Barcelona for a four day shoot in Barcelona at the start of this month (VLOG HERE). This followed three weeks of solid work and I was pretty burnt out by the time I set off for my outward flight. But four days of serious heat and not having to look at a computer screen completely reset my brain and I came back to the UK with more ideas than ever! It had been two years since I'd been abroad or had any kind of time away from work and I had forgotten how important these little breaks are. Make sure to have some time out - even if just for a Sunday afternoon stroll!

SMELL THIS: I had a spendy moment in Duty Free and ended up coming away with a few things (haul incoming, don't worry) including ESTEÉ LAUDER BRONZE GODESS. I'd never been a fan before but this summer my nose seems to have changed its mind and I'm in love. Give it a sniff if you pass a counter as it's delicious! (REVIEW HERE)

WEAR IT: I am OBSESSED with this playsuit from MISSGUIDED - you've probably already seem it around these parts a million times now, but any time we have a warm day and I'm working from my garden, I'll be wearing this! If you're going on a summer holiday I'd definitely recommend picking this up as it's the perfect little number to throw on over a halter-neck bikini. It comes in BLACK, WHITE & SNAKE PRINT - I need to collect them all!

READ IT: My friend Tamara's blog THE GLAM & GLITTER has been working it's way in to my top five go-to blog reads over the past few months. Her style is on point and she's just such a lovely, bright, smiley person - definitely worth checking out if you aren't already a fan!

Sea Side Whites

I'm back again with another style post and I bought my white clothing obsession with me...

It's been a long time since I last did the "touristy" thing in Brighton, but when Victoria visited for the first time in about 10 years I couldn't refuse her a trip to the seaside, more importantly, the pier!

Despite the fact it's always freezing and I freak out if I look down between the floorboards, it's actually one of my favourite places to be, mostly because it's really aesthetically pleasing there (deck chairs, white benches, sea views etc.) but mostly I'm there for the food. Donuts, candy floss, churros - if it's got more than your daily recommended allowance of sugar it will be there.

But aside from the sugar binge (a whole pack of donuts were consumed), we shot this outfit which you may recognise if you watched my recent Get Ready With Me! I'm really in to the whole "all white but with a bit of denim" kind of look. It brightens things up a bit and has been steering me away from boring black jeans.

Day to Night Get Ready With Me

$

I very rarely go out for dinner in London anywhere remotely fancy - normally a good burger or mexican dish will do so things are always way more on the casual side. But I stayed at Shoreditch House with St. Tropez a few weeks back and was dead set on filming a little Get Ready With Me before dinner!

If you couldn't guess by the video, Charlotte Tilbury products are rocking my world right now. They are just so perfect that I can't not buy more and currently have a Selfridges basket ready to drop that is full of her stuff. In particular the Eyes to Mesmerise are incredible, they blend so beautifully and give an amazing dimension and sheen to the eyes whilst photographing beautifully and just being all round long lasting. The soon to be released lipstick in 1975 Red is also the perfect bold lip for summer time and with it being a matte formula it's not going anywhere!

Aside from good old CT, the one thing I'm also obsessing over at the moment is the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser. It's been whipped out of the muji storage and I can't use anything else right now - it's almost criminal that I forgot about it for so long!

Things I've Bought Recently...

Hold on to your wallets people because June has been a spendy month...

From a trip to Kiehl's where I picked up the Skin Rescuer and the Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfecter (the latter on Alix's recommendation - she's a bad influence!) to a seriously MAC moment. I had never purchased so many things from MAC all at once but had to pick up a few MAC Shades (Amorous, Syrup and Mehr) as well as Soar Lip Liner. I almost left it at that before discovering the Conceal and Correct Palette and with my love of concealing it just had to be mine.

And don't even get me started on my Duty Free Haul. After attempting a super market sweep style dash for chocolate I couldn't quite make it out without being drawn to a few counters. The Esteé Lauder counter is the one that won me over though and I left armed with the Bronze Goddess Skin Scent and Brush On Glow BB Highlighter.

After all that I'm still left feeling a little bit MAC obsessed, so hit me up with your recommendations for lipsticks, eyeshadows or anything that packs a serious shimmer. It is almost payday after all...

It's that time of the month where I have a small panic at the realisation that my life is flashing before my eyes and put together the best of my beauty stash from the past 29 days. This month there are a fair few lip product loves as well as some skincare saviours (shock horror, I know, I never try new skincare!) and a concealer palette that makeup hoarders and collectors will absolutely love!
