MAC Lipstick Collection

After six months of talking about a potential MAC lipstick collection appearing on YouTube, I finally bit the bullet and got stuck in - applying all of them for you to see! After the serious swatch session that went on I had a seriously sore face but was also very thankful that my collection isn't overly extensive. I think my face may have fallen off otherwise...

The Sunday Post: The Franco Manca Food Coma

YASSSS - Pizza posting on a Sunday morning is totally happening my friends! (Because let's face it, there are just some Sunday mornings where we could all do with a pizza and little red ambulance right?) Last Wednesday was a very exciting day (more on that next week) and come 5pm Alix and I found ourselves feeling more than just a little hangry and stopped by Franco Manca - known best for its sourdough pizza bases - I knew from one glance at the menu that the only outcome from that dinner would be a serious food coma.

We ordered two Lemonades (heavily flavoured with ginger - a heads up for all the non lemon & ginger lovers out there) to accompany our ginormous Pizzas. I went for number 4 - Ham & Wild Mushroom, whilst Alix went for number 3 - Courgette & Buffalo Ricotta. Both were super delicious and somehow we both managed to demolish a whole pizza each!

We then attempted to waddle to the train station before falling straight in to a taxi... Oops.

Emma Watson Inspired Makeup

Seeing as Emma Watson has been one of my top girl crushes since I was about ten years old I thought it was about time I did a tutorial dedicated to her on my channel. At a recent Times 100 event I spotted her wearing an bold orange lip with super subtle eye makeup and softly defined brows, something I haven't really mixed together before!

I decided to play up the lip colour a little and make things feel a bit more summer appropriate by using a newly released lipstick that is fast becoming one of my all time favourites and really enjoyed playing up a slightly heavier contour and false lashes. I was pretty chuffed with the result and although I'll never look like Emma I loved sporting a slightly softer eye makeup for once.

P.S Ten points to those that notice the accidental addition of liner at the end - I may have forgotten to film the close ups and moved on to the next video!

Pass The Strawberries...

Last week I popped on my favourite little white dress and headed out for an exciting day at Wimbledon. With VIP suite and centre court tickets at hand, it was slightly easier to overlook the blistering heat that the day brought with it (it was even too much for a sun worship-er like myself).

With Pimms and strawberries on tap we made our way to centre court to watch some of the best tennis players on the planet (a real treat anyway, but especially exciting for me as a newcomer to Wimbledon), before retreating to the shade of the terrace.

We later got hungry and made our way to Franco Manca for some seriously great Pizza (more about that here). I then made my way back to the (very welcome) breeze of the seaside with a full tummy and a serious strawberry addiction. I honestly couldn't think of a better way to spend the hottest day of the year.

July has crept up on me far quicker than I ever expected and we are now coming up to flight two of my "five trips in five months" situation I have going on. Between international flights and over night stays in London, my favourite overnight bag from Aspinal of London is basically always packed and my suitcase has taken up a more permanent residence in the corner of my room.

When staying overnight my bag pretty much houses everything I need for my trip, but with flying, I take up a more "everything I wouldn't want to loose lives in here" ethos. This counts for the usual essentials like skincare, documents and sunglasses. But then we also have electronics (laptops, cameras, cables etc.), a small spare bag (this one is from Tu Clothing is the perfect summer holiday bag- link here) - they come in handy for storing documents and other things you need constant access to and mean that you will always have something a little more holiday appropriate should your suitcase go awry - a little makeup and a spare outfit and bikini. I'm a constant worrier and knowing I'll be okay for a few days and will have some of my essential items no matter what always puts me at ease!

Aside from the extra added dose of crazy that travelling brings in to my life, I get so excited and I can't wait to take you all to LA with me! But anyway, it's about time I stopped typing and cracked on with some packing!

Four Years On: How Blogging Changed My Life

$

This summer marks my blogs fourth birthday and whilst my head is currently a mess of a million different videos and blog posts the one thing thats really been on my mind is how much I love this space and how it made my life so unbelievably wonderful.

I feel like everyday you see someone calling out all the things that are wrong with the industry, but the really amazing things happen when you focus on what's right. There are now so many women running their own businesses with complete creative control, producing regular, fresh content - some with standards to rival the pages of editorial magazines. Over the past four years more and more brands have jumped on board and it's amazing and inspiring to see so many girls around me doing so well and I feel incredibly lucky to call so many other bloggers and YouTubers around me my friends.

I was never very good at making friends at school, but looking back I feel like there just weren't so many people with similar interests to mine. But blogging introduced me to so many wonderful ladies who just get me and where I'm coming from. I can say things without apologising for being me and I honestly can't express how grateful I am to have friends who are on my level and who make me feel so comfortable. Aside from them I also have hundreds of thousands of you who all have helped to make me feel completely comfortable with being myself and I can't thank you enough for that.

And it's not just self acceptance that you help with. Speaking to thousands of people each week and meeting new people in the street everyday has really helped my confidence. Four years ago I was terrified of meeting someone new and now I LOVE meeting new people and even managed to speak on stage at BeautyCon earlier this year. That was a real teary moment for me and there was a lot of celebratory ice cream.

This space also opened up so many crazy amazing opportunities to me. A few years back I made the decision to make the most of what life had to offer me, anything that came my way I said yes to, even if it was terrifying. There have been moments of fear in the run up to things when I wish I'd said no, but jumping straight in to all the travel opportunities and shoots that came my way always felt so rewarding afterwards. This ethos is one of the reasons why I was able to turn this space in to a business whilst working full time. I did as much as possible with every second of my day and now I'm lucky enough to call this my job.

It's crazy and most days I do have the WHAT IS MY LIFE moment, there are so few words that really encompass how happy you all have made me. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by so many supportive readers and viewers, whilst having the most supportive and inspiring community around me. The majority of us help each other out every single day, and sometimes I'm actually overwhelmed by the love that so many other bloggers have to give.

I was never very academic at school, and was one of those students that didn't really seem to have anything going for them - especially when I made the decision not to go to university, so to be running my own business at the age of 23 genuinely makes me a bit emotional and I can't thank you enough for all of your support (especially through the "sporadic summer" as I'm calling it), each and every one of you reading this have helped change my life and for that there really are no words.

TLRD: Start a blog, it could change your life.

The Sunday Post: The Ivy Chelsea Garden (Without The Garden)

Before you say anything, I promise I do actually eat food at home and I promise it is (mostly) healthy. But I really couldn't pass up an opportunity to swing by The Iv Chelsea Garden last week as I'd been itching to go for so long! We were lucky and managed to grab a table without waiting (they book up fast so it is worth chancing a walk in if you're passing by) and although we couldn't be seated in the garden, as half was full and the other half under construction (perfect timing as always...) the indoor seating is beautiful too and a window seat made so we didn't feel too far from the great outdoors.

I'm not going to beat around the bush here, my main intention was to have a taste of their chocolate bombe, a ball of chocolate centred with ice cream that melts away once your waiter pours a warm rich caramel sauce over the top. It really is what dreams are made of.

Oh and the main? A mix of halloumi, lettuce, tomato and avocado between two slices of thick brown crusty bread was also very nice. I can never pass up halloumi and avocado in the same dish so this was just meant to be!

I left London one happy chappy after finally ticking this one off my list - it's definitely one to keep in mind if you're visiting the area. Now if only I could stop dreaming about that dessert menu...

Today I'm talking new things! A lot of new launches have popped up since my last "New In: Summer Beauty" video so I decided to put together part two!

Get ready for some coloured liners so pretty they'll knock your socks off, a few new fragrances that smell super sweet, and an affordable palette that looks almost good enough to eat.

Life Lately

I don't even really know where to start on the crazy that is currently my life. Today is the first day this month where I haven't had to film a video (or five - but we're wrapped up for the month so yayyyy!), edit a video, go to meetings or shoot an outfit. I'm going to completely let life catch up with me. Gym, errands, returns, come at me!

A few photos from the past week...

1. New shoes are the bomb. Stay tuned to see what I picked up - I can't wait until LA so I'll actually have outfit shooting weather instead of this rain!

2. Beautiful new things at the Mulberry press day. I'll take everything in each colour please.

3. ...I'll also be taking this Mulberry bag from the Spring collection. *all the heart eyed emojis*

4. I've been getting custom bunches of wild flowers and peonies put together recently. It's my new obsession which sounds completely princess-y but I'm okay with that.

I'm also in the process of trying to book a non work related trip abroad - if you have any suggestions of warm picturesque places in Europe where I can escape to for a week of relaxation then pop them in the comments!

Kensington High Street

Last week what should have been a perfectly overcast day turned in to something a little more dreary in London. After getting a sneak peek at Space NK's Christmas drop we decided to make the most of Kensington High Street - naturally including some outfit snaps - before being rained off moments later.

One of my favourites to wear on a grey day is my white lace tunic dress from H&M. It was one of those spur of the moment purchases that could have gone either way (I didn't even try on before buying) but has been such a great piece in my wardrobe and it's cost per wear is now pretty minimal. I'd been wanting to pair it with my sandals from Topshop for so long and finally got round to it - they don't go with everything unless your wardrobe is full of tunic dresses or denim shorts (or your legs go on for days) so I was waiting for a day that wasn't too hot to piece it all together.

A pretty simple outfit all together but it's a really easy one for cooler days as you can throw almost any coat over the top, from denim or leather jackets to trench or duster coats. They all just seem to work so you can make things as formal or as casual as you like!

We've now hit that "calm before the storm" phase in the run up to going away (though with the amount of deadlines I'm currently battling I don't exactly feel calm. But my suitcase is almost packed and for once I'm not nervous at all, maybe I'm being naive or maybe after travelling alone things just don't feel so scary anymore. Whatever it is I'm thankful for it, because nothing makes me less productive than pre-travel nerves.

In light of going away I haven't been eating out so much or doing much of anything that isn't work at all, so I thought I would give you a little peek in to what my Sunday mornings currently look like (except with brushed hair - the things I do for you guys!). I usually wake up at around 8:30 - panic and pray my video went up on time, check it and feel relieved before reading through all the comments and having a rush of warm fuzzy feelings because you are all awesome. We'll have breakfast in bed (sometimes healthy and sometimes completely random, I think the latter fits the photo below) and I'll go through my subscription list and catch up on videos and then write a blog post like this one!

Then the work starts. This morning I'll be editing and building a super special new section to the blog which will hopefully be ready over the next few days. I'm super excited about it so I hope you all like it!

Purple Liner & Pink Lips

I don't know what came over me but a few weeks back I swiped on a little purple liner and actually liked it! Accompanied by a bright baby pink lip, it sounds like the most un-me thing ever on paper, but it actually works. It's a pretty simple look over all, but the addition of pink lips and cheeks adds a summer vibe and stops the deep purple tone looking so autumnal (although this would be amazing in the autumn too)!

I made it to LA!

After almost sixteen hours of travelling and delays we finally made it to our apartment in LA! I'm so excited to be out here for lots of exciting meetings and attending Vidcon (plus a secret something this morning that I can't tell you all about yet)! It's pretty darn warm here and I'm at my happiest when the weather is like this - my summer wardrobe finally has its time to shine!

As I write this I've actually been awake for almost 24 hours, so a nice long sleep is most definitely needed! Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for updates whilst I'm here and sneak peeks of what's going on on my Instagram (I use #HelloOctoberTravels if you prefer to do an Instagram binge catch up all at once). I can already tell the time is going to fly by, but here's hoping I meet lots of you guys and, of course, have a few spendy moments too (Sephora I'm coming for you). There may have already been a very special airport purchase again on the way here...

So far LA has been a whirlwind of meetings, visits to Vidcon and industry parties, so much so I'm convinced time runs faster here. I've barely had time to post, so today has been a day of catching up with work (and trying to make our way through a seriously huge pizza from Walmart).
We touched down after a very long flight earlier this week (brand new Celine sunglasses already glued to my face) and prepared for two days of meetings and Vidcon panels. Though the first item of business on the agenda was an interview with Channel 4 for a series on 4OD - definitely the most exciting thing to happen so far on the trip. Usually interviews really terrify me but I loved it!

We visited Joan's on Third for a meeting in West Hollywood on Friday, before heading back to Vidcon and later getting our Sephora brain on and coming away with a lot of stuff!
It's been an amazing trip so far, and thankfully I still have three days left, so I'll be posting another round up from my trip as well as a few videos. I've been sharing an apartment with some amazing girls (listed below) and they have just been so much fun. Today we're heading out to the beach for some post Vidcon chill time and I couldn't be more excited!

Just when you thought I couldn't milk the "I'm in LA" situation for more content  - I give you a look in to my LA makeup bag. It looks like a lot of makeup made the cut, but I needed options to take me from lazy days to long nights and haven't really missed anything.

Saying that, the reason I might not have missed anything may be due to a rather large drop in Sephora and said haul may be making its way to you soon. Eyes peeled ladies, eyes peeled...

Things I've Used Up

Only on YouTube is hoarding your own trash acceptable. Its a strange thing but I know you guys love seeing what I've used up and there is a strange satisfaction when you use something to the last drop too! I feel like this video really gives an excellent representation of the skincare and makeup I use obsessively too.

There are also a few shower and haircare items that I've used up, and I can already tell there will be more on the way soon - I go through conditioner even faster than I get through Colab Dry Shampoo! (But seriously, Colab Dry Shampoo scent recommendations please - I'm in need of a restock!)

I arrived back from Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon and having not been to the US in a really long time - jet lag totally got me. But yesterday was the first day I was able to stay awake for a full day (thank goodness - I have so much to do!) so I think I'm coming out the other side of it now. This makes me really happy as I've wanted nothing more than to put together all my photos from the trip but haven't had the time between meetings and deadlines (and naps). So get ready for a lot of new content coming your way!

The photo above was taken on one of our first days in Anaheim and was one of those shoots where something just wasn't quite right with the light, but I quite like this one. They may surface here in the next week, but if not, this one is my favourite so far. I have this new blue maxi dress from ASOS that I'm currently obsessed with and I wore it a lot during our time there. It's like and floaty and it pains me to see it hanging unworn with the rest of my summer dresses whilst I'm back in the UK (but seriously, why so cold Brighton?)

LA - I miss your constant sun and warmth already...

July Favourites

July was one of those months where only a few products really made the cut, I was so busy preparing for a week away (and the jet lag that would follow) that I didn't really have the chance to test out too many new things. But it's a quality not quantity moment and I've still got some great new things to show you!

Naturally my new favourite red lipstick, a heavenly scented bath oil and a cracking SPF all made the cut though. There may be a tonne of new things currently sitting in my "test" pile, so I'm off to swatch and swipe every single one in preparation for next month. Prepare yo' selves.

First off, I have to thank Alix for taking these photos for me. Without her, there would be absolutely no content from LA at all and that would be a very sad tale indeed. Secondly,  let's talk about this swimsuit from ASOS (SIMILAR HERE). After the age of nine I vowed I would never wear one again but after spotting this beauty I decided to go back on my words and give one a chance.

The second it arrived I knew instantly that an oversized hat and denim cut offs were going to go perfectly. The fit is true to size and makes you feel pretty darn good even when you're seriously bloated from eating copious amounts of brownie brittle and one too many a Starbucks Smore Frappuchino (I LOVE YOU U.S FOOD!). I also don't have to worry about the fact that my torso is always whiter than white in comparison to my shoulders - I mean, seriously I need to up my SPF game because those tan lines are really not ideal!

I like it so much I'm thinking a second piece in a new colour might need to be purchased before my next trip..

10. Matching Disney bracelets. Because we're five.

11. The VidCon crew. So much love for these girls!
