The Sunday Post: Shopping in Santa Monica

Santa Monica was by far my favourite of the few parts of California I had the time to see, with amazing shops, restaurants and a pier and a beach that almost made me feel at home. I actually partially blame the beach and pier combo for the case of extreme homesick-ness that came along soon after. I had my first taste of Nasty Gal, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom (the best of them all) and discovered that the US Brandy Melville's are awesome.

Unfortunately we didn't have too long to spend there (even these photos were snapped whilst waiting for our Uber) but it would definitely be a part I would love to explore more in the future.

In other, more current news - this morning I'm off to spend the day at a spa in the countryside before my best friends wedding on Monday. I get a full 48 hours of countryside calm before returning to Brighton, grabbing my bags and heading to Ibiza for three days!

It's going to be a bit of a crazy whirlwind, but I'll try and keep things updated around these parts as and when I can (naturally videos will still go up as usual). I'm full of nerves but at the same time I'm so excited to be setting off again!

Six Beauty Buys You Need To Pick Up From The US

Part one of the US beauty hauling extravaganza went up on Sunday - kicking things off is an Ulta beauty haul! I was pleasantly surprised by Ulta, aside from the Lorac Pro palette I wasn't convinced it would have much else that interested me, but I spent a good hour perusing the isles and had to empty my basket back on to shelves a couple of times as things got a bit extreme.

The lesson I learnt from this is that Lorac is an awesome brand and IT cosmetics are definitely a brand I'm wanting to buy more of. I can't lie, I am already planning my next trip to the US and the shopping list is rather long already...

THINGS I PICKED UP:

Let's Fly Away.

I have to admit I'm one of those people that doesn't like travelling in sweats. I'd much prefer to wear a nice pair of shorts than leggings but in LA found myself without anything to travel back to the UK in - no comfortable shorts, no jumper. Luckily I had a bit of a shopping moment in Santa Monica and picked up a few pieces that turned out to be perfect for the flight home.

The first purchase of the day was from Brandy Melville - I've never really found much I like in the UK store, but the US has far more variety and I left with a cute little t-shirt and the jumper in these photos. It's cosy but breathable all at the same time and the material falls in that perfect loose way.

I then popped in to Nordstrom (originally to check out a few Phillip Lim bags - naughty) but ended up leaving with these lace trim shorts. They're the perfect fit for my small frame - high waisted but long enough to be flattering on the legs and oh so comfortable. I haven't really stopped wearing them as they're perfect for the UK summer too. Bridging the smart/casual gap in my wardrobe that I never seem to have enough of.

I teamed these pieces with my Celine Sunglasses (a pre- LA purchase that haven't really left my face/head over the past month, and Stella McCartney espadrilles which I finally broke in during my stay in the US and are now the most comfortable summer shoe!

The Sunday Post: There & Back Again...

After three days off for a wedding and a three day trip to Ibiza I'm finally back at home and getting my life back in order - expect four weeks of completely organised Suzie before I set off again!

There will be more to come on Ibiza this week but I went away with Victoria, Tamara, Em, Carly and Sammi (all the most amazing girls) on a three day press trip and had so much fun. These girls are so genuinely lovely and inspiring so it was just a joy to be around them.

After arriving home (to one seriously excited puppy) I've been spending my time catching up with friends and family as there was so much I missed between LA & Ibiza. It's always important to have a few days to gather your thoughts before jumping back in the ring. The flat is now super clean, my suitcase is (almost) empty and Pretty Little Liars has been caught up on.

Monday, I'm totally ready for you.

When You Go in to Sephora and Leave With Half The Store...

Whilst I was in LA Sephora purchases were being made left right and centre, I actually ended up doing three rounds of purchases (make that a forth if you count going back for my mummys birthday present)! It's a very rare occasion that I ever shop in Sephora and there hadn't been a large beauty haul for some time around these parts, so with Sephora (and Ulta) I went for it.

As well as a completely falling in love with a lot of the products, there are also a few I wasn't so impressed with - spoilers! You can watch the video for a full run down of products (totally couldn't fit them all in the picture above) and swatches (SWATCHESSSS!? I KNOW!) but for a quick run down of my stand outs keep reading...

As far as first days in Ibiza go, mine was pretty insane. We started the day with our own in house Yoga class at the Villa, before breakfast and a little work time. Once we were dressed and all SPF'd up we quickly threw our summer essentials in our bags and headed to the docks.

The next twelve hours were spent aboard a yacht our in Formentera with plenty of sunshine, snacks and SPF at our disposal - definitely one of those "pinch me" moments - especially seeing as the last yacht I hopped aboard was for a party and we didn't even leave the Marina! I took this as the perfect opportunity to throw on my new swimsuit from ASOS, paired with a little arm cuff from ASOS and my Celine sunglasses. I may have come away with some seriously odd tan lines, but the little tan patch around my belly button is worth it!

We later got dressed up and hopped on a speed boat to the shore - but more on that in my next post...

Despite living by the sea I'm always excited to explore new beaches - especially if there is sand as Brighton is pretty lacking in the stuff. So when we hopped off the boat at Formentera I was pretty happy to go bare foot and wriggle my toes in the sand a little.

If you're visiting Ibiza I would highly recommend taking a trip to this beautiful island. There are so many restaurants to choose from and the views are simply stunning.

We ate at Juan y Andrea - a pretty well known food haunt on the beach where prices are high but the food is pretty amazing - the Paella and Strawberries & Cream were favourites of mine and I felt pretty lucky to be surrounded by such great company as the sun began to set.

The Perfect Night Out Makeup For Summer

When it comes to summer nothing beats a gold eye look with tonnes of highlighter, and whilst applying this look in Ibiza I realised I had never created a makeup tutorial like it. We were heading out for the evening so I decided to make the look a little more exaggerated than I would during the day - I particularly enjoyed the heavier contour and a hefty amount of highlighter that made its way on to my face.

The gold glitter on the eyes and highlighter gave the illusion of an almost wet look - so with Tamara's encouragement (great friend, smashing photographer) I hopped in the pool and tried not to smudge anything!

Five Tips For Great Summer Skin

This summer has definitely been the summer of travel for me and I'm super thankful that it's been to warmer climates (because seriously, what is the UK weather playing at?), however I have been a little worried about the impact the travel and sun exposure would have on my skin. So when Teresa Tarmey invited me and some of my favourite blogging pals out to Ibiza for a crash course in skin i was pretty excited.

As a beauty therapist to some star faces and an expert in skincare Teresa knows her stuff. She's soon to be opening a second shop in Notting Hill which is going to be packed to the roof top with some of my favourite skincare brands. So no doubt I'll be popping in for a visit as soon as it's open! But until then Teresa gave me my first ever facial (EVER!) and talked me through her top five tips for caring for my skin over the rest of the summer:

DRINK MORE WATER...
A lot more. More than you feel you need. During the summer we all sweat more, so need to make an effort to re-hydrate more often. By the time you're thirsty you're already dehydrated, so make sure to constantly have a bottle of water to hand. This is not only important during warm periods or under sun exposure, but also whilst flying and will help combat the dreaded post-flight face we've all come to dread.

INVEST IN A GOOD SPF...
And wear it daily. During the summer months or whilst exposed to the sunlight for long periods of time, SPF should be reapplied every three hours to ensure you are well protected. Teresa recommended the KIEHL'S ULTRA LIGHT DAILY MOISTURIZER SPF 50 to me whilst in Ibiza and even after spending a whole day on a yacht my face was tan mark free.

DOUBLE CLEANSE...
Double cleansing is a great practice and especially important during the summer months when SPF application is frequent. One cleanse may not be enough to remove all traces of sun protection from your face the first time, so a double cleanse is recommended to ensure the skin is not clogged with product.

EXFOLIATE...
your body at least twice a week. It's best to do this the day before before applying tanning products, but also is a great practice if you're not a fan of the tan as skin feels softer and smoother. Teresa recommended the new CLARISONIC SMART PROFILE BRUSH as her exfoliator of choice as it works for both face and body.

FAKE TAN VS. REAL TAN...
Fake tan all the way. To some people the words still paint a negative picture in their minds, but it's better for your skin and health in the long run rather than damaging your skin.

Hearing Teresa's skincare tips was definitely the motivation I needed to get back on the skincare wagon - after travelling so much I had definitely fallen in to a bit of a lazy routine, but now I'm back in the world of guzzling water and double cleansing and my skin has definitely been thanking me (and Teresa) for it!

Although some moments in life may seem unlucky I always like to imagine they lead you to something better. A bizarre case and point comes in the form of my blue plunge maxi dress from ASOS - after finding Nala chewing the strap clean off the blue dress I had no choice but to make a repurchase and order a second (in case of future puppy chewing incidents y'know?) in black.

Turns out the black dress is my favourite of the two and works perfectly with a bold lip or statement bag (or both if you're me and stealing your friends Chanel). I wore this on our last night in Ibiza where we made our way to Ibiza Old Town for a little Tapas and cocktails. We ate opposite the port and watched as the beautiful yachts sailed in and out, whilst passers by crowded around to watch the biggest ones dock.

Let's Catch Up...

Sometimes when you're working you can blink and before you know it you've skipped two weeks of Sunday posts. I've been so busy working on my YouTube channel recently that I've barely had time to touch this side of the internet. But as of yesterday morning I finished all of my videos for the rest of the month (a blessing when you have a week until you need to leave the country again) so I'm free as a bird to get writing!

So what's new in my world? Aside from getting ready to set off again, I've been busy planning content for Vlogtober (if you're new here it's a month full of bi-daily content over on my YouTube channel) and tomorrow start working part time in a new office! I'm sick of working alone five days a week, so Alix and I have secured a new work station so that we can work together without getting too distracted (although we are the procrastination queens so it could still happen).

I've also been busy shooting lots of new outfits recently, I have so much to catch up on in terms of documenting outfits so keep an eye out for lots of new-ness over the next few weeks!

Hope you all have a lovely day! x

No.11 Pimlico Road

There's nothing quite like catching up with old friends over good food. I recently spent a delightful afternoon with my friend Lucy (yes we are still friends for those who have been asking!) at No. 11 Pimlico Road, a contemporary bar and restaurant in South West London. The food was amazing and the interior was right up my street (ladies, make sure to visit their bathrooms, if for nothing other than the beautiful decor).

We chatted for hours, before heading over to Sloane Square and making a few purchases at Whistles and Kate Spade. I know, I just couldn't help myself.  It was such a lovely, sunny afternoon - perfect for a mammoth catch up and south west stroll. The weather was slightly on the cooler side, so I wore my leather jacket, Zara t-shirt and an a line 70's inspired skirt. Teamed with my Celine Sunglasses, Stella McCartney espadrilles and Aspinal bag - it made for perfect late summer city style.

Sadly things have since started to cool, but if you're an Autumn baby like me you're going to love what I have coming up...

Breakfast at Joan's On Third, LA

This is a total throwback to LA but I finally got my hands on a few of the photos I shot for the Bloglovin' website back in July and couldn't not show you!

For those of you who didn't see there's an interview with little old me on the Bloglovin' blog - I was super excited to be featured and got up super early one morning to meet them. We met at Joan's On Third in West Hollywood and had a delicious breakfast - yoghurt, granola and berries might seem a little underwhelming but after struggling to find the stuff since we'd arrived in Anaheim, it was a welcome treat!

I took the opportunity to give my plunge maxi dress an outing - it's beautiful and simple at the same time, and makes getting dressed in 30 seconds possible. I have it in black and am sitting on my hands trying to stop myself snapping up the sunset yellow and patterned offerings too!

A Day In The City: London

Aside from Brighton, London is my second home. Some months I spend more time amongst the bustle of commuters and city slickers than I do in my home town. A normal day consists of meetings back to back, with some shoots and a quick whizz through Selfridges (forever coveting the perfect handbag...) but a week or so ago I had an afternoon completely free to roam around. This is where the magic happens.

Where did I choose to spend my free hours? Soho of course, aside from Covent Garden it's one of my favourite central spots. Original I know, but there are some must visit places round there and I couldn't quite help myself...

LIBERTY: Home to some of my favourite beauty and handbag halls (and not forgetting the incredible Jewellery department), Liberty is one of those places that I can't not visit if I pass. There's always something new to see and the flower display outside is always beautiful (and very busy).

BRANDY MELVILLE: I fell in love with Brandy Melville whilst in the states and now find myself visiting every time I'm in the area. The selection is still nowhere near as amazing as it's US counterparts, but there are still a few gems to be found inside.

CARNABY STREET:
Another shopping favourite of mine, Carnaby Street is never one to be missed, with Monki plus Mac and Benefit amongst so many others, it's a bit of a beauty lovers dream. If there's any time to go though, it has to be December, once the Christmas decorations are in full swing (or... hang?) then it really shines.

POLPO: Italian food, tapas style. My quick (and possible highly incorrect) way to describe Polpo. The small dishes mean you can choose multiple dishes as your main - my favourite way to eat - and with the amazing food it would be criminal not to taste as many dishes as possible. The desert menu is also a winner. Try the Nutella Pizzetta, I dare you.

Other noteable food favourites in the area go to Dean Street Town House and Social Eating House. MMmmmmm.

Throwback

I'd all but entirely forgotten these photos existed until I went through my laptop last week in search of something magical to call content. It was one of those hot but rainy London days that I literally cannot bear - one or the other please mother nature!

I wanted to be kept cool but dry, so threw on my Religion trench/duster coat and a pair of ripped knee jeans. In hindsight converse would have finished off this look nicely, but instead I threw on my rain shoes. They might not look like they'd keep my feet dry, and they don't, but they dry super quick. So when a down pour occurs I'm never that person with water seeping from their shoes five hours later!

Not only is this a throwback to early august when these were taken, it's also a throwback to a time when it behaved itself! I could only dream of getting my hair to sit nicely like this right now. As soon as I'm back from the last of my summer travels there's going to be a lot of change! There may also have to be some new jeans purchased as I'm so over cold knees in the winter and finally... a new bag may have to be purchased as I'm wearing my Aspinal to death (Nubuck was never going to wear well in my possession), it's now reserved only for travel purposes - no fancy meetings. So watch this space as there's about to be some serious Autumn haul-ing coming your way!

Season Change...

There really is something to be said for finding a dress that makes you look like one of your favourite emojis (you know the one...) and when I tired this particular one on in Topshop a few weeks back there was no way I was leaving without it. It's a fitted a-line structure, but with a little seventies kick at the sleeves that makes me feel on trend without having to go anywhere near a pair of flared jeans. The colour is perfect for wearing during the cooler days with tights but still works perfectly without on those more (rare) mild autumn days.

For me it's become the perfect dress for meetings that I want to wear a little more colour to and last week on the way to my last meeting of the day I couldn't help but swing by the balloon instillation in Covent Garden. It's completely wonderful and definitely a sight to see if you're passing through any time soon.

Last week I boarded a plane to Skiathos,  ready for a week of Sun, fun and endless instagramming. The first few days went totally according to plan and I made good use of my endless swimwear supply. The last few days however have been slightly different, with crazy storms that lasted three days, limited electricity and no internet. It's been an interesting internet detox for us all - sorry for the lack of posting!

While the sun has got his hat on and the power has returned, we still have no internet and I'm currently hot-spotting off my phone so things will be a bit quiet until I'm home. In the mean time I'll be chilling in this disco-esque number from ASOS and dreaming about the fried feta I'm going to face-plant later this evening...

I'm back on UK soil and boy do we have a lot to catch up on.

Things are a bit crazy right now - hence why this isn't a post full of my Greek adventures - there are just so many photos and not enough editing time - I'd rather spent a bit more time and put together something marvellous than a slap-dash post. But we had sun, rain, thunder, lightening, power outs and everything in between whilst we were away - definitely a once in a life time experience!

Today I'm packing my bags again and heading to London for a Premiere - I can't wait to show you the dress I've been loaned for it - it's a beaut! Once I'm back I have a few days until Vlogtober kicks off (I'm so not prepared for a month of bi-daily vlogging and videos), the birthday celebrations start and Hello October finally gets a makeover (in addition to accounts work, editing, planning my birthday drinks and everything in between). Excuse me while I find a corner to have a little stress cry in...

But seriously, thank you for sticking with me during the busy times! I'll hopefully be back tomorrow with something a little more interesting than my window view...
